Rachel Reed, the well-known secretary/treasurer for S.H.O.W. HIO, is the proud mom of Shelbyville Central High School Class of 2024 Valedictorian, Zoe Grace Reed. You may have seen Zoe at shows from time-to-time helping out with paperwork in the inspection area at S.H.O.W. affiliated events to assist her mom. Or, she often works part-time at the Celebration concession stands, at the door during the Hispanic rodeos or for her aunt at Leanne’s Flowers on the Shelbyville square.
Zoe has always been driven to excel in her academic career. She has taken multiple honors and dual credit classes throughout her high school career, and has received awards for academic excellence every year since grade school. Most recently she received awards for academic excellence her senior year in AP English Literature, AP Calculus and SDC Prob & Stats. She also received recognition in the form of a proclamation from the State Senate for being valedictorian.
Just like in the walking horse industry, hard work and determination pays off. Zoe has received a scholarship from the Liberty Lions Club and a Presidential Scholarship from Tennessee Tech in Cookeville where she is attending this fall and plans to major in mathematics, then possibly pursue a career in law.
Zoe’s dad, brother and mom, as well as her entire family, are very proud of her and her accomplishments. They know she will strive for continued excellence as she moves into her college career, and they’re excited to see what her future holds. Congratulations, Zoe, on such an amazing accomplishment. We all wish you the best of luck and much more success as you embark on this new chapter.
