The Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ & Exhibitors’ Association (TWHBEA) announces that voting is now open for the 2027 International Board of Directors election and a proposed amendment to the association’s bylaws.
Ballots were emailed to current voting members on September 15, 2026. Because electronic ballots are distributed through a third-party provider, some emails may be filtered into junk or spam folders. Members who have not yet seen their ballot are encouraged to check those folders and search for emails received on September 15.

As of calendar year 2023, a voting member is defined as a member who owns a walking horse in his or her name at the time ballots are mailed. Members in good standing at the conclusion of 2022 who do not own a horse but have had voting privileges shall be granted continued voting privileges provided their membership is kept current on an annual basis. A member prior to 2022 whose voting membership lapses shall lose voting membership privileges. Only one member/owner of a horse owned in the name of a corporate structure may claim that horse for the purposes of voting privileges.

All eligible voting members have until October 15, 2026, to cast their ballots.

Members who previously opted out of electronic voting were mailed paper ballots on September 15, 2026. Those ballots must be returned in the provided envelope and received by October 15, 2026, to be counted.

In addition to the election of directors in applicable states and regions, all voting members were sent a ballot seeking approval of a proposed amendment to the association’s bylaws. The proposed change would remove the current limitation that prevents a director in the United States from serving more than two consecutive full terms.
For states and regions with director seats up for election, the ballot also includes the opportunity to elect director(s) to serve a three-year term. Candidates who declared their candidacy by August 1 and were deemed eligible are listed on the ballot. Members also have the option to write in candidates.
