Joe Thurman Weaver
January 30 1944 – September 16, 2026
On Jan 30, 1944, in Paducah, Kentucky, AT and Kathryn Weaver welcomed their first son, Joe Thurman Weaver, into the world. He grew up in Hampton, Kentucky, and attended Hampton Methodist Church with his family. After graduating from Livingston Central High School in Burna, Kentucky, Joe enlisted in the Army. Although he seldom spoke of his time in Vietnam, it was no secret that he was proud to have served on the front lines to protect our great country.
Joe had many talents and loved sharing his knowledge with anyone who would listen, especially those who frequented the Flat Creek Market. He spent much of his life training Tennessee Walking Horses- many of those years working with his sons: Joel and Jack and later his grandson Lake.
Joe loved rabbit hunting and running his Beagle hounds, especially when in the company of his dear friend Chandler. He was also an avid collector of sheep, goats, and any other animal he could get his hands on. While he had many loves and interests, his greatest pride was always his family. Joe could often be found with his grand and great-grandchildren on the farm, where he taught them to ride horses, drive tractors, and, above all else, work hard. To them, their Papaw will always be a hero.
On September 16, 2026, surrounded by family, Joe went to be with the Lord.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, A.T. and Katherine Moore Weaver, and his brother John Weaver. He leaves behind his sister Jane Weaver Williamson, his long-time friend Sandy Fleming, along with his 4 children Joel (Kristy) Weaver, Joelle (Chris) Bright, Jill (Shannon) Jaco, and Jack (Dana) Weaver; grandchildren Tait (Shianne) Smith, Tori Smith, Stratton (Jimmy) Civils, Lake Weaver (Kayla Baucom), Laine Sharp, Wyatt Jaco, Carson Jaco, Irelyn Weaver (Tyler Anderson), and Lexi Weaver; great-grandchildren Jameson Hicks, Easton Civils, Navy Smith, Asher Civils, Capri Smith, and Ridge Smith along with numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Joe was the strongest man, with the toughest hands and the softest heart, and he will be dearly missed by all.
A celebration of Life service will be held 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2026, in the chapel of Doak Funeral Home with Joel Hutson officiating.
Visitation with the family will be held prior to service beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
