Violet Odean Meadows, S, grandmother of Keegan Meadows, 89, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 15, 2024. She was born August 13, 1934, in Madison, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charley and Ines Setliff. Her husband Arvil “Gay” Meadows also preceded her in death along with one son, Turman Meadows; one grandson, Jacob Bush; six siblings, Kenneth Setliff, Sebert Setliff, Paul Setliff, Willie Setliff, infant Tommy Setliff, and Madeline Carter; and a dear friend and neighbor, Beulah Napier. Violet was a homemaker and a member of New Vision Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy (Larry) Maynard of Citrus Hill, Fla.; two sons, James Meadows, and Chuck Meadows, both of Wayne; daughter-in-law Raymona Meadows of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren, Kevin (Tracy) Maynard, Kristina (Phillip) Howard, Keegan Meadows, Amanda Martin, James Nick (Amber) Meadows, Jason Meadows, Dustin (Odette) Meadows, Ashton Ferguson, Gavin Meadows, Addyson Meadows, Aniston Meadows, Whitney (Trenton) Brooks, and Ashley (Michael) Edman; 14 great grandchildren, Derrick Maynard (Taylor Garner), Megan (Nomar) Trinidad, Matthew Howard, Andrew Howard, Zachary, Trenton (Courtney) Baisden, Haylie Baisden, Jacob “Lawson” Baisden, Brendan Meadows, Donovan Meadows, Hayden Brooks, Paislee Brooks, Addalynn Brooks; and Zachery Scott Claxton; five great-great grandchildren, Braxton Maynard, Micheal Trinidad, Aria Trinidad, Karson Meadows, and Hadley Meadows; one brother Rickie Setliff; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends too numerous to mention.
A visitation and funeral was held at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Elder Danny Damron officiating on Friday, April 19, 2024. Burial followed in the Meadows Cemetery, Wayne.
