Joyce Franks, age 66, of Loganville, Georgia, passed away on June 15, 2024.
A natural leader, Joyce was elected President of her sorority Zeta Tau Alpha during her time at Georgia State University. She went on to earn her Certified Public Accountant license. During her working career, she was a CPA at an accounting firm, Project Manager at a check printing company, CFO of a car dealership and Internal Auditor and Controller of a major payroll corporation.
She was a dedicated Christian and was faithful to Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Prior to that, she was very involved in her membership with Loganville Baptist Church. She helped teach Vacation Bible School for many years, chaperoned youth retreats and events and served as the Financial Secretary and Sunday School Director.
Tennessee Walking Horses were one of her greatest passions in life. She began showing in the 11 & Under class and continued for almost her whole life. She participated in shows as often as she was able, and when she could no longer compete, she still enjoyed attending for the fellowship and the joy of watching the horses. She kept a treasured collection of ribbons that she earned hanging in her home.
She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Garner, who shared her love for horses. She was able to spend her last weeks on his and her mother’s farm watching two of her cherished retired Tennessee Walkers, Stepping John and Titleist’s Dimple, in the pasture. This is also where she gave her granddaughter and each of her great nieces their first “ride” before they could even walk.
She is survived by her mother, Lettie Lee Garner and brother, Larry (Jan) Garner. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah (Anthony) Camp and granddaughter, Madison Camp.
