Jeffrey Lee Hinson passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024 in Columbia with his wife by his side. He was born on June 15, 1956, in Lewis County to the late Harlon and Betty Jane Hinson.
After earning his bachelor's degree in agricultural business from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Jeffrey embarked on a fulfilling career as an accountant with Farmers Service Inc. His professional dedication was evident in every task he undertook, and he remained until his well-deserved retirement in December of 2016. Jeffrey loved the Tennessee Walking Horse and could be found on his free weekends helping and working with the team at Wright Stables.
Jeffrey was a devoted husband, father, and an adoring grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren.
Jeffrey loved the outdoors. He had a passion for farming and horses, and his hands were rarely idle. Whether tending to his land or simply enjoying the beauty of the outdoors, he was happiest when he was outside.
Those who knew Jeffrey understood his selflessness. He was a man who cared little for material possessions, focusing instead on the well-being of others. His intelligence was matched only by his ability to put it into action; there was truly nothing he couldn't do when he set his mind to it.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 46 years, Gwen Hinson; children, Steven Hinson, Julie (Mark) Whitehead, Tyler (Elizabeth) Hinson, and Jessica Hinson; his siblings, Kathy Keeton, Jerry Hinson, Lisa Hinson, and Kevin Hinson; grandchildren, Brylee Whitehead, Nolan Whitehead, Neely Whitehead, Darby Whitehead, and Hattie Hinson; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation with the Hinson family will be from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Sunday at McDonald Funeral Home. Funerals services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McDonald Funeral Home with Jeff "Boo" Spears officiating. Burial will follow in Goodman-Hinson Cemetery.
