He’s A Top Gun was foaled on May 2, 2019. He was sired by General Gunn and out of Brookie, a Sky Command mare. He was bred and raised by Grider Farms of Columbia, Kentucky. Carolyn Evans of Eden, North Carolina, purchased him in the spring of 2021 and he was started by Derek Monahan at River View Stables of Ivanhoe, Virginia.

“Top Gun” and Monahan had a successful career together, winning several major shows and top ties at the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration. As he grew older, he became a favorite around the barn and was loved and cared for by many. Prior to the 2024 Celebration, He’s A Top Gun developed problems with his respiratory system and was placed under the care of Dr. Jim Baum at the Baum Equine Clinic in Shelbyville, Tennessee. After a few weeks of caring for him, Dr. Baum referred them to the Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, where He’s A Top Gun passed away on October 5, 2024.

Both Evans and Monahan feel they have lost a forever friend and he will be sadly missed by all.
