Equine Obituary - Sevé

On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the MTSU Horse Science Program announced the passing of show ring great and notable sire, Sevé. Sired by Pride’s Generator and out of Doctor’s Lady, Sevé was foaled in 1995. He passed away on May 2, 2026, and was laid to rest at the Whitaker Farm beside his longtime barn mate and MTSU foundation stallion, Hey Dare.

Hilley to Judge the Spring Extravaganza this weekend

Amy Trimble had planned to mark the cards at the Spring Extravaganza this weekend in Shelbyville, Tennessee, but due to a death in her family, Mike Hilley will now judge the event. Obituary- Eyvand Eugene Sapp “Papaw Sapp”

Eyvand Eugene Sapp also known as “Papaw Sapp”, of Greenville, KY passed away on Monday, May 4th, 2026 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born in Muhlenberg County on October 15th, 1933, the son of the late Isome Sapp and Lizzie Lovell Sapp. He retired from the Muhlenberg County Road Department after 15 years of service and also worked for 15 years at National Lock.

The EquiSkill Challenge Cup is an English equitation championship, open to amateur, limited amateur and youth riders, for Tennessee Walking Horses. The championship will be judged 50% on rail work and 50% on pattern. Turnout (tack and attire) is part of the rail work score.

Humane World Files Lawsuit Over USDA Horse Protection Actions

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Humane World for Animals and affiliated plaintiffs have filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and its Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), challenging recent agency actions related to enforcement of the Horse Protection Act (HPA).
