It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Williams, our beloved matriarch, at the age of 87 in Shelbyville, Tennesseem on the evening of January 11, 2024.
Mary was born to Jerry Hall and Mandy Pye Hall in Coushatta, Louisiana. Her mother died when she was eight-years-old and she was raised by her maternal grandmother and aunt, Alberta and Lucille Pye. She attended Hanna School in Hanna, Louisiana. She moved to Pineville, Louisiana for work at Fort Polk Army base and later met and married Roosevelt Williams. They relocated to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where they raised their family.
In additional to love for her family, Mary’s diverse passions included reading and traveling to horse shows to support her husband and children. One of her special joys was having all of the grand-children at the farm for two weeks together doing the summers and buying gifts for them at Christmas. She worked for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System for a number of years prior to retiring and moving to McComb, Mississippi.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Mandy, her grandmother and aunt Alberta and Lucille, brother Leon Bell, son Robert Williams and her husband Roosevelt Williams. She is survived by daughter Lucy Hall-Arthur (John), son Charles Hall, son Greg Williams (Tracy), daughter Rose Williams, son Frankie Williams (Angie), son Joel Anthony Williams (Mila), son Jerry Williams (Melanie). She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, a host nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary will be deeply missed by her family and friends. We would like to extend our gratitude to all those who have shown their love and support during this difficult time.
