World Grand Champion Papa’s Smoking Pusher was laid to rest on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the age of 28. He was one of the late Beverly Sherman’s favorite horses and was still owned by Floyd Sherman at the time of his death.

Papa’s Smoking Pusher and Beverly Sherman made their debut performance at the 2002 National Trainers’ Show winning the Amateur 50 & Over class. Beverly rode also Papa’s Smoking Pusher to the 2002 Elite Owner-Amateur World Grand Championship. Kelly Sherman also showed him and they earned the title of 2005 Owner-Amateur Stallions Reserve World Champions. He was shown for the last time in 2008 by Kelly Sherman to win the Amateur Mares & Geldings class at the Germantown Charity Horse Show and was then retired to enjoy a long life. 

Papa’s Smoking Pusher was loved by the entire Sherman family and those who saw him perform at the major shows across the nation. He earned 21 blues during his career with various riders.
