Obituary – Doris Penick

Mrs. Doris M. Penick, 94, of Walterboro, entered into rest Friday morning, September 5, 2025, at her residence. She entered into the arms of her Savior peacefully and surrounded by the love of her adoring family.
Mrs. Penick was born September 1, 1931, in Highland, Illinois. She was a member of Saint George Church of Christ and was very proud of her involvement with World Bible School, dedicating seventy-five years of unwavering service to The Lord in leading others to know Him. She dearly loved animals, but especially horses. Her name was well-known in the Tennessee Walking Horse world. Alongside her daughter, as a breeder and owner, she was very devoted to The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration (TWHNC), which hosts the World Grand Championship, a prestigious annual event where the top Tennessee Walking Horse is crowned. Year after year, the family has brought home countless First Place awards and titles.
Surviving are: her husband of seventy-five years, Mr. Everette L. Penick; a daughter, Vickie Sue Penick of Walterboro; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Penick of Ravenel; two grandsons, Scott Kevin Penick and his wife Rachel of Summerville and David Stephen Penick and his wife Kari of Summerville; and six great grandchildren, Abigail, Anna, Luke, Jack, Beau, and Ainsley. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Kevin Lee Penick and Stephen David Penick.
The Relatives and Friends of Mrs. Doris M. Penick are invited to attend her funeral service which will be conducted at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning, September 9, 2025, from Saint George Church of Christ, 767 Highway 15 North in Saint George. Minister Roy Knight officiating. Entombment will follow in Glendale Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 10 o’clock that morning in the church sanctuary.
