Mrs. Beverly Sherman, born September 27, 1939, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024, at her home in Shelbyville, TN, at the age of 84. Beverly is survived by her husband of 60 years, Mr. Floyd Sherman, daughter Kelly Sherman and Sister Ginger Simco. She is preceded in death by her son, Edward Sherman.
Beverly was an iconic owner, exhibitor and breeder of the Tennessee Walking Horse since the beginning of her and her family’s passion in 1979. She had a personality as big as her adopted home State of Texas. In her years of involvement within the horse industry, Beverly never failed to tell a stranger about the Tennessee Walking Horse.
In addition to the great horses she owned and showed, she was always willing to serve in any other way beneficial to the breed. Beverly served as a Director for the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders & Exhibitors Association, Celebration Owners Committee and the Walking Horse Foundation as well as was one of the founding members of the Southwest Walking Horse Association as well as serving several terms as President of Big D Charity Horse Show.
In 2002, The Sherman’s were honored with the 2002 Year in Walking Horse Dedication. The Sherman Family with Beverly at the forefront, supported shows from Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi to Tennessee.
Of the many great horses Beverly showed and owned, she would list her favorites as Mark for Me, Papa’s Smoking Pusher, High Dollar Charge and P.J.’s Main Event.
Beverly lived life to its fullest, cherished her family and countless friends.
